Don't let FEAR in.

We're all still reeling from the outcome of the Presidental election. There are some out there that are exceedingly happy that Donald Trump won the election and there are many out there that have developed a fear on what their life might be like for the next four years. 2017 hasn't started yet and we're already looking forward to what negative impact the new year may bring with him as our President.

Just a mere two days after the election and I have already heard stories of those facing racism and threats. That's not right. At all. This country that we all live in was meant to be a place of haven for any race, color, religious, gender, and everything else. This country welcomed those who needed refuge from a place of terror that threatened their life, and now they're going into a country that may become another place of terror. We're living in a country where Freedom is the most important aspect of our lives. I mean people sign up to fight for our country, our freedom.

Here's the deal-I'm White. But I am also a Deaf Woman.

When I first heard through facebook (no cable-such sadness) that Donald Trump had won the election, my first thought went to running for Presidency in four years. This win of his seriously made me want to run for President so he wouldn't win to do another four years. I already got one vote. I thought about what questions I would ask the previous Presidents and even Hilary Clinton (didn't vote for her either), on what their platform had been and what they wanted and all that so I could get an understanding on what I would want to enact if I were to win the Presidency. This is the first time in my entire life that I had ever wanted to be President. I never wanted to be as a kid. Can you imagine a President who is a woman and has a disability that doesn't prevent her from doing anything but hear?

Yesterday I was afraid of walking home in the dark from work, and today I'm starting to develop a fear that I could be prejudice against because I'm a woman and I have a disability. But I don't want that fear! In fact, I don't deserve to have this fear in me! Instead, I'm gonna do what I think everyone should start doing-not letting fear in and not letting it determine you.

If a man decides to grab me by the pussy because he believes he can because the President does it, I'm gonna knee him in the dick.

If a person mocks my deafness, my disability, and tells me I'm dumb becuase of it, I'm going to look at him in the eye and tell him that I am a person with two degrees and a Masters in progress. I'm going to show him that being deaf doesn't restrict me from expanding my mind. (I may even tell them that their disability is that their brain is the size of a cockroach, in a respectful way of course).

If I am in the presence of someone being racially discriminated against for their religion or race or color, I am going to stand beside them and support them. If a woman's hijab is cruelly ripped from her head and told that she isn't allowed to wear it anymore, I'm going to pick it up and give it back to her. I'm going to tell her that she has the freedom to wear whatever she wants and to fuck the other person.

There are many other things I could say and do but this is now not the time to cower in fear. It is the time to stand up for yourself and for others. To stand up and say "I am not afraid". Let's stand together and show others what it means to be an American.

What are you going to do?

A step in History

As I have said once before in my personal blog, Diary of a Deaf Woman, I'm fairly bad at making sure I update things. There has been times when I wanted to write a blog in response to stuff such as an article or two. Well now I think it's time we mark a day in history.

Yesterday became the day the nation celebrated the legalization of gay marriage. Which is great! I have friends who are gay/lesbians and to know they can celebrate their love is an amazing thing. Some day I hope to be a part of it as long as I am a part of their life.

With the cheering came the disgust. I had a friend on my Facebook timeline become insulted when someone (a 16 year old) claimed that her unborn son would turn gay simply because of their beliefs. Their beliefs is not what you think. She celebrated the legalization, not against. I told her in response to not listen to someone like that. And in addition to that, I said that "We're the generation that's living with this acceptance of differences".

Yesterday became a day in history. It was a step forward in making sure everyone, despite those who are against it, has their chance in Love and to be able to celebrate it.

Love is Love

Introduction

Hi,
I decided to create another blog that is not of a personal nature so that I could expand on my writing skills. I will write article style posts on many topics as I can ranging from movie reviews to article responses to obscure topics.

If you have any topic ideas you think I could write, please email them to me at bronwyn_fisher89@hotmail.com and please put into the subject line "blog topic".

Thank you and I hope you enjoy what this blog will hopefully become!
